Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in Free vs. Boat Log Pro ($4.99/mo, $34.99/yr, or $34.99 Lifetime)?
The Free Plan includes 1 boat (preloaded with sample vessel Sea Feather so you can explore right away), up to 20 maintenance log entries, date-based reminders, and maintenance cost totals forever. Boat Log Pro is available as a $4.99/month subscription or a $34.99/year subscription (both include a 7-day free trial), or a $34.99 one-time Lifetime Unlock (no recurring billing). Pro unlocks unlimited boats and log entries, engine-hour reminders, photo attachments, full ownership cost tracking ($/mo and $/engine hr), private on-device bank/card CSV import, and sale-ready PDF service history export.
How do I restore my Boat Log Pro subscription or Lifetime Unlock?
Open Boat Maintenance Log, go to the Settings tab (or open the Boat Log Pro upgrade sheet), and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID or Google Play account used for the original subscription or Lifetime purchase.
How do I manage or cancel my Boat Log Pro subscription or free trial?
Subscriptions and 7-day free trials are managed directly by Apple or Google so you always have full control. On iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app → tap your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions → select Boat Maintenance Log. On Android, open the Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. (One-time Lifetime Unlock purchases do not auto-renew.)
Does the app sync automatically between my iPhone and iPad?
No. By design, Boat Maintenance Log stores all records 100% locally in an on-device SQLite database on the specific iPhone, iPad, or Android device where you enter them—with no cloud account and no automatic cross-device cloud sync. On iPhone, the app uses a clean single-column layout; on iPad, native Split-View keeps your vessel roster beside full service history, engine hours, and cost charts on that iPad. To move or back up your logbook between your iPhone and iPad, use Export Backup and Import Backup in the Settings tab to save or restore a portable backup file via iCloud Drive, Google Drive, AirDrop, or Files, and export PDF reports at any time via the system share sheet.
How does the private on-device bank or credit card CSV import work?
In the Costs tab (with Boat Log Pro active), tap Import bank CSV and select a CSV statement downloaded from your bank or credit card issuer. The app parses the file entirely on your device without Plaid or bank logins, auto-detects date, merchant/description, and amount columns (or lets you map columns manually), automatically skips credits/payments and likely duplicate entries, and remembers merchant rules locally (for example, assigning “Progressive” to Insurance on Sea Feather or “Harbor Marina” to Slip & dock automatically on future imports).
How do I export a sale-ready PDF maintenance and ownership report?
Open your vessel or the Settings / Export view and tap Export service history PDF. Boat Maintenance Log generates a chronological PDF summary of your vessel hull ID, engine hours, dated maintenance tasks, parts used, and ownership cost totals on your device (explicitly labeled as an owner log of maintenance and ownership costs, not a marine survey) and opens the system share sheet so you can save it to Files, print it, or send it to a buyer, broker, mechanic, or insurance underwriter.
How do I remove the sample vessel (Sea Feather) or erase all data on my device?
Starting with your own vessel automatically replaces the sample vessel Sea Feather, or you can delete an individual vessel from the vessel detail screen or wipe all app data completely by opening the Settings tab and tapping Erase all data. Because all records live in an on-device SQLite database, erasing data removes every boat, log entry, expense item, merchant rule, photo, and reminder from the device immediately.
